AS THE social media was in a frenzy to frantically search for missing six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui who went missing in Johor’s Iskandar Puteri on Saturday (July 20), Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming was signing praises of the Madani government for Malaysia’s 10th ranking as “Safest Countries in the World 2024”.
As pro-Pakatan Harapan (PH) social media influencer CIKYANIE (@lady_bugg11) mobilised a missing person search on the X platform to locate Albertine who was separated from her family around 8.30pm while attending a Bon Odori event at the Eco Galleria mall, Nga went on to execute a public relations (PR) exercise.
This is as he deemed Malaysia’s 10th ranking as “another great success of the Madani government under the leadership of YAB PMX (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim)”.
Satu lagi kejayaan besar krjn Madani dibawah pimpinan YAB PMX @anwaribrahim.

While Albertine has been found in Batang Kali, Selangor, the cops have since arrested three suspects – two men and a woman aged between 28 and 55 – with the missing person case now re-classified as kidnapping.
“The investigation is now being classified under Section 365 of the Penal Code which pertains to kidnapping or abducting someone with the intent to secretly and wrongfully confine them,” Johor police chief M. Kumar pointed out in a statement. “If convicted, the penalty includes imprisonment for up to seven years and a possible fine.”
While Albertine’s whereabout remains a question mark, recall that a missing person report of 25-year-old murder victim Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah was lodged on July 12 only for her body to be recovered three days later (July 15) at. Felda Gedangsa in Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) Selangor.
On July 16, the murder suspect – a 26-year-old civil servant – was remanded for seven days to assist with investigation. On the same day, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the arrested man was a member of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

In a separate development, the Federal Court sitting in Johor Bahru on July 17 has set aside the death sentence on police corporal Muhammad Faizal Salim, 47, for killing his pregnant lover by substituting the sentence with a 40-year jail term and 12 lashes.
To cap it all, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had on July 9 announced that gates of police stations nationwide will be closed after 10pm as a security measure following the May 17 attack of the Ulu Tiram police station by a lone suspect whose father is believed to have ties with extremist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI).
Against, such chain of events, it is little wonder that Nga who is also the Teluk Intan MP and national DAP vice-chairman gets trolled by detractors for sharing the “good news”. – July 23, 2024
