HAVING visited the petrol station countless times over, any sharp eyed observer should have no difficulty spotting the red-coloured emergency button just above the pumps.
Finally, we can put our curiosity to rest for a hilarious video post on X addresses its function as well as the situations where users can engage the emergency button.
Selama ni isi minyak kat stesen minyak, tak pernah nak tahu butang “Emergency” ni guna untuk apa.
Very good info to the public. pic.twitter.com/QYBII2NROZ

According to Zafran in the video, not only the staff are allowed to use the emergency button, but customers too.
“When you press the button, all the petrol will auto stop from this pump,” he said.
As the name “emergency” suggests, it is used only in an emergency situation, such as a fire breakout, oil spill due to a defective nozzle or when a foreign car driver decides to fill their car with our subsidised petrol aka yellow pump.
Apparently the last scenario was categorised by Zafran as an emergency, which garnered laughter and jokes from the internet community.
One netizen who required further explanation asked if it was for a foreigner using our subsidised petrol, do we press the emergency button at our part or his part of the pump.
Zafran clarified that we could just press the button from our side. “If at their pump, there is going to a fight,” he said.
Confrontational Hafidz said he would just press the button on the foreign driver’s side. “If he wants to argue, many people will back me up,” he continued.
Gajuspedas added his support to the crowd, stating that the part about foreign drivers was good. “Let us all as Malaysian citizens make full use,” he said.
However, caution is also advised as foreign car drivers have every right to use the more expensive green pump, aka RON97.
Now that we have been properly enlightened on the purpose of the emergency button at the pumping station, it is time to put the knowledge to good use. Foreign car drivers beware. —Dec 30, 2024
