THE Story Book Academy has announced a strategic collaboration with Sunway Velocity Mall and Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya to showcase its students’ performances.
The Academy is an offshoot of The Story Book which conducts first-of-its-kind interactive storytelling events based on books, primarily for families with young children.
The Story Book launched the Academy in Sept 2020 to offer narrating and story-acting classes to young children, adults and educators using stories from books.
As part of the collaboration with both shopping malls, selected performances by the acting class students from the Academy will be showcased to a public audience in conjunction with the festive activities conducted at the malls.
“The Story Book has a long history of working together with our strategic partners which include shopping malls, bookshops, theme parks, universities and schools,” said The Story World Sdn Bhd director Jeanisha Wan.
“The Story Book Academy alongside Sunway Velocity Mall and Paradigm Mall PJ marks a new milestone in helping to showcase the performances of our academy students to a public audience.”
According to Wan, the collaboration with Sunway Velocity Mall started before the COVID-19 pandemic period where The Story Book’s storytelling events were held regularly at the mall’s Commune event space.
In December 2021, the first performance by the acting class students of The Story Book Academy on ‘A Christmas Carol’ was showcased at the mall’s main atrium.
In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, the acting class students will perform ‘Journey to the West’ at Paradigm Mall PJ’s upper atrium on Jan 23, 2022 at 7.30pm.
