KUALA LUMPUR: Sanichi Technology Bhd (Sanichi), AT Systematization Bhd (ATS) and PNE PCB Bhd (PNEPCB) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a US company – Arzon Solar, LLC (ARZ) – to form a joint venture company to design, research and produce medical-grade mechanical air ventilators for the local and overseas healthcare markets.
A joint statement said the Malaysian companies will be responsible for the production of the product and obtaining the necessary licences and certificates, while ARZ will be responsible for the distribution and marketing of the product for both domestic and international markets.
Sanichi managing director Datuk Seri Pang Chow Huat said Covid-19 pandemic has caused a surge in demand for ventilators with the global mechanical medical ventilators market valued at about US$1.05 bil currently and estimated to reach US$3.02 bil by 2027.
“This pie is super big. Too big for all four of us to fill the orders,” he added.
Furthermore, ATS managing director Choong Lee Aun, said the companies are certified contract manufacturers of endoscope and have been producing endoscopy accessories metal parts for medical device manufacturers.
“Capitalising on our expertise and experience, together with our ISO 13485 medical certification, we believe this new joint venture can pool our comprehensive business experience to keep up with complexity, quality and compliance all at once,” he said.
PNEPCB executive director Kua Khai Loon said the company has decades of experience in manufacturing printed circuit boards for customers from Japan, US and Europe and believes the ventilators will be a very innovative international product that will be able to ease the demand of the industry globally. – May 18, 2020, Bernama
