Tony Pua sues Chegubard for claiming he benefitted from a Tabung Haji project

FORMER Damansara MP Tony Pua will be issuing a letter of demand today against Johor Bersatu election operations director Badrul Hisham Shaharin for slandering the DAP lawmaker that the former owns a company that has been offered an internet application development contract by Tabung Haji when he served as political secretary to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng in 2019.

Pua claimed that the malicious action of Badrul Hisham who is popularly known as Chegubard is intended to spark anger among the people, especially Muslims against him, the DAP and the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

“I would like to emphasise that I no longer own a single share in the company Cyber Village Sdn Bhd since 15 years ago. The company was the company I helmed until 2006,” Pua clarified in a media statement.

“It is public information that I sold all my shares in Cyber Village before I entered politics in 2007. I no longer have anything to do with the company.”

Pua went on to emphasise that Tabung Haji is not a government statutory body under the auspices of the Finance Ministry (MOF).

“MOF never once intervened in any Tabung Haji transaction during the PH administration except during the need to save the Tabung Haji with an injection of RM17.9 bil. Therefore, any malicious accusations from Chegubard are completely unfounded.”

According to Pua, this is not the first time that Chegubard has slandered him. As recent as May, the latter had to make an open apology to Pua over two more Facebook posts he published in 2019 after Pua brought a defamation suit to court.

“Chegubard is clearly a slanderer who has no capital. I will take defamation action again if he does not retract all his accusations and apologise to me immediately,” warned Pua. “At the initiate a similar action against them.” – Nov 15, 2022
