COVID-19: New cases still at four-digit mark, S’pore starts vaccination

THE health ministry has reported 1,870 Covid-19 cases and six deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said there were 745 recoveries.

“The total number of infections now stands at 110,485,” he said.

On a related matter, Singapore began a coronavirus vaccination campaign today with a nurse receiving the first jab, making it among the first Asian nations to roll out inoculations.

The city-state, which has suffered a mild outbreak, became the first country in Asia to approve the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine earlier this month, and its programme kicked off with healthcare workers.

Nurse Sarah Lim, 46, whose work includes screening suspected COVID-19 patients, was the first to be immunised, their health ministry said. – Dec 30, 2020.
