FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urged Malaysian to be vigilant as COVID-19 cases is back on the upward trajectory.
“What is going to happen to those who want to embark on inter-state travels to visit their families during Hari Raya season?” he asked, in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, Health Ministry (MOH) director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted saying that the rate of transmission (RoT) as of April 9 is at 1.06.
He also posted a chart indicating that COVID-19 cases since March 3 is on an upward trend, as new infections still hover at the four-digit mark, with workplace clusters contributing the most of it.
As of now, most businesses and educational institutions have opened fully, albeit some schools being closed down after COVID-19 cases were detected at their premises.
On March 27, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the Government has yet to decide whether to allow inter-state travels for Hari Raya.
On that note, Najib said that the 1.06 ROT on April 9 was the highest recorded since February, when the second movement control order (MCO) was imposed.
“Yesterday, we had about 1,500 new infections. Don’t forget, Ramadan is around the corner too,” the Pekan MP remarked.
The Government recently announced that it would allow Ramadan bazaars to operate as usual, with strict standard operating procedures (SOP) attached. – April 11, 2021.
