Sabah legislative assembly dissolved

Sabah chief minister Mohd Shafie Apdal has announced the dissolution of the state legislative assembly.

This paves the way for state elections which has to be held within 60 days.

Shafie made the announcement today at the Sabah Administrative Centre in Kota Kinabalu after obtaining the consent of Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin.

“Ladies and gentlemen, after I wrote the letter yesterday, I went to meet the governor in the evening to present the letter (seeking for the dissolution of the state assembly).

“And this morning, I had an audience with him again, where the governor had given his agreement for the dissolution of the state assembly,” Shafie told reporters in the state capital this afternoon.

Shafie earlier had an audience with Juhar at Istana Negeri in Kota Kinabalu after his rival, Sungai Sibuga assemblyman Musa Aman of Umno, claimed to have the support of 33 assemblymen to form a minority government.
