Tri-collaboration to transform an old charm with new world luxuries

IPOH, the city surrounded by limestone hills, has grown as a tourist destination. The third largest city in Malaysia gained tourist popularity due to its food, British Colonial architecture, caves and temples.

As a result, the former tin mining town which was once dubbed as a sleepy hollow has been rapidly developed to attract more tourists and to remain as the “hipster capital of Malaysia”.

In the quest to keep such momentum going, property developer Bond Holdings Sdn Bhd has announced an exclusive collaboration with Ipoh city council Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) and and Sycal Bhd, a construction group.

This tri-party collaboration is aimed at transforming an ‘old charm’ – Ipoh – into a city of the future with new world luxuries, thus able to attract more business tourists and benefiting its populace.

“We are excited to work with MBI who is the catalyst in its vision to create a cleaner, greener and a developed city, and Sycal  who is the main contractor for this ambitious project,” Bond Holdings CEO Ong Teng Boon pointed out.

“This significant milestone is a pledge for a strong commitment on our part to work together towards our common goals. A vision to provide a modern township for the people of Ipoh.”

The focal point of the collaboration is the management of the Ipoh International Convention Centre (IICC), a 28,000 sq ft facility that includes a multi-purpose events hall – to accommodate annual dinners, corporate talks, trade exhibitions, community bazaars, conferences, workshops – and a retail environment.

“It is an honour to work alongside a team such as Bond Holdings and Sycal to conceptualise the vision of a greater city, one that will eventually put Ipoh on the map as an economic driver for the state of Perak,” commented Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @Md Daud.

“To top it off, a clean and beautiful Ipoh, perfect for a new business culture that we truly welcome.” – Dec 30, 2020
