Tourists can stay in a five-star ‘flooded’ hotel in Kelantan now, netizens joke

THE Kelantan state plans to change the quiet monsoon season into a tourism attraction, according to executive council (exco) for Tourism, Culture, Arts, and Heritage official Kamarudin Md Noor.

The suggestion is getting much attraction on social media, with X users in particular poking fun at the idea.

The exco member said the state government is organising various programmes considered suitable for the monsoon season, and among them, Kamarudin mentioned the provision of special foods and activities like surfing.

“During the monsoon season, there are certain foods available only at this time, such as putu halba, dishes made with freshwater fish, and various types of tubers,” he said, as reported by HarakahDaily.

These efforts aim to boost tourism during the monsoon season.

A netizen joked that people can now stay in a five-star ‘flooded hotel’ in Kelantan.

Another user asked whether there would be electricity and toilets to accommodate tourists, given that electricity supplies were cut in Kelantan during the flood.

Commenting on its post, the account @f4kr0ls00d listed the amount of money needed to be a tourist during the flood period.

Besides a comment saying the Kelantan state could ready airboats for the “Kelantan river flood cruise”, a user uploaded a poster that explains the capacity of some people to think and talk. – Nov 30, 2024
