Towards digitalising businesses: Fiesta PLATS @ KAWAN 2022

THE first-ever Fiesta PLATS @ KAWAN 2022, which will be held from 3–4 Dec, 2022, will showcase the achievements of Platform Selangor (PLATS) this year.

This gathering of PLATS-registered merchants will help businessowners ramp up their visibility in the digital arena creating a digital community of businessowners and consumers.

PLATS is a state government digitalisation initiative under the Selangor state government’s Entrepreneurship Standing Committee led by the Chairperson of the committee, Rodziah Ismail and mooted by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Organised by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) in collaboration with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) – better known as MBI – the two-day fiesta will be held at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam between 8am to 10pm.

It is expected to feature some 100 food and drink entrepreneurs and hawkers who will set up stalls and trucks to introduce and sell their wares.

Free activities will also be available for the public who will get to enjoy hot air balloon rides, game booths, face-painting activities, and interactions with clowns, among others.

At night, a starlight cinema between 8pm and 10pm will feature movies that will bring together friends and family for a night of unforgettable wholesome entertainment.

MBI CEO Norita Mohd Sidek emphasised that PLATS is playing a crucial role in helping the Selangor State Government help the people.

“Our goal is to expand the PLATS platform to encompass multiple aspects to meet the various needs of micro-entrepreneurs to assist them even more effectively and efficiently,” she added.

Meanwhile, PNSB CEO Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said Fiesta PLATS @ KAWAN 2022 is primarily aimed at helping the local hawkers and small businesses ramp up their visibility in the digital arena towards growing their businesses.

“It is imperative that the PLATS initiative continues to grow with the efforts to digitize and train the local hawkers. We are already seeing the positive impact on the 20,000 micro-entrepreneurs we have helped with promotional and upskilling efforts,” he pointed out.

He added that this fiesta will further boost efforts to encourage and promote the digitalisation of such businesses. – Nov 30, 2022
