ToYM unveils Malaysia’s first CNY micro drama “When Luck Meets Love” to usher in new festive storytelling era

HOME-GROWN Thousands of Years Media (ToYm), an innovative entertainment outfit, has announced its latest milestone project: its first-ever Chinese New Year (CNY) micro drama, When Luck Meets Love (财到福到,爱情驾到).

Filming is set to begin on Nov 18 to mark a festive celebration of family bonds, laughter and rekindled romance.

The storyline follows He Yuting, a young woman who has sworn off love and returned to her hometown to run a guesthouse.

Just before Chinese New Year’s Eve, her ex-boyfriend Wang Jingsheng turns up with an expired accommodation voucher, hoping to enjoy free food and lodging.

Upset, Yuting makes him “work off his stay”, setting the stage for a light-hearted yet touching reunion filled with playful banter, second chances and re-discovered feelings.

The micro drama features Chirstina Kuan a.k.a. Mskuan (@Ms_Kuan) in the lead female role and celebrated model-actress Amber Chia in a special guest appearance.

They are joined by ToYm’s rising in-house artists such as Ng Xin Yi, Jayden Chen and Xiao Wei Wei whose participation underscores ToYm’s commitment to nurturing home-grown talent.

By giving its artists central roles in high-quality productions, ToYm continues to provide a launchpad for emerging talent while reinforcing its reputation as a creative powerhouse.

“CNY is a season of reunion, joy and gratitude, hence When Luck Meets Love captures all of that while telling a story audiences can laugh, cry and celebrate with together,” enthused ToYm’s founder Datuk Wira Jment Lim.

“What makes this project especially meaningful is that it’s our first-ever 100% Malaysian-produced micro drama – from script-writing and filming to editing, music and costume design.

“It represents the growth and confidence of our local creative team, who wanted to challenge themselves to deliver something world-class, proudly made in Malaysia.”

According to Lim, the production also marks another milestone for ToYm given in addition to being its maiden CNY micro drama, “this is also the first time we’re filming a micro drama in both vertical and horizontal formats, thus allowing audiences across all platforms to enjoy the story seamlessly”.

“Most importantly, this project reflects ToYm’s mission to produce high-quality, meaningful and positive content while pioneering new ways for brands to connect with audiences,” envisages Lim who is also the founder of SunStrong Entertainment.

“Through ToYm micro drama ads, we merge artistry, storytelling and business, thus helping brands reach people not through interruptions but through stories they love and remember.”
