Bir, Himachal Pradesh

Bir is a Buddhist settlement in the Kangra Valley. It lies on the northern edge of the Dhauladhar mountain range, adjacent to the town of Joginder Nagar and Billing.

There are approximately 300 Tibetan monasteries in Bir, which serves as an important site of pilgrimage for Tibetan Buddhists from all over the world. Bir Billing is popularly known as the ‘Paragliding Capital of India’ and is also famous for its Tibetan handicrafts and monasteries.

 

Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra

Mahabaleshwar is a small hill town in Maharashtra, located in the western ghats of India. It is one of the most popular hill stations in India and known for numerous vantage points like Arthur’s Seat. Mahabaleshwar is also famous for its strawberry farms and mesmerising viewpoints.

West of Mahabaleshwar are the centuries-old Pratapgad Fort and the Lingmala Waterfall, which tumbles off a sheer cliff. Further east, Kate’s Point offers views over the Krishna Valley. Colourful boats dot Venna Lake, while five rivers meet at Panch Ganga Temple to the north.

 

Dayara Bugyal, Uttarakhand

Dayara Bugyal is a meadow situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft, near the town of Barsu in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. The trek to Dayara Bugyal starts from Barsu village and takes about two hours to reach, passing through dense forests of pine and oak trees.
