OPPOSITION-SLANT keyboard warriors have a field day praising twice former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for getting even with his former disciple-turned-nemesis Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Short and sharp as always Tun 👍🏻💪🏻” was the applause received by the centenarian who was astonished at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) head honcho Tan Sri Azam Baki wanting to probe his assets in the UK.
“Actually, I think PMX instructed MACC to carry out this investigation to delay my legal suit against him. When I sued him, he asked for two weeks to answer my summons,” penned Dr Mahathir in a Facebook post which has amassed 40K likes, 7.1K comments and 4.9K shares at the time of writing.

“It has been two years now. He’s still unwilling to go to court. Still funding reasons to postpone as if I own properties in the UK. This is a delay tactic because investigation will take time.”
A commenter who resides in the UK claimed that she could not help laughing after reading the social media post of the now Perikatan Nasional (PN) adviser and wanted to know “the exact location (of the said assets) n UK so I can recce”.

“The Madani government is making up stories to create a negative perception about TunM with the hope the rakyat will be influenced,” observed one commenter.
“But in today’s world, the people are smart enough not to fall for such dirty and disgusting bait.”

For context, Azam, 62, whose tenure as the MACC chief commissioner has been extended thrice on the advice of PMX had on Tuesday (Sept 9) revealed that the graft buster is in the midst of seeking information from UK authorities on assets owned by Dr Mahathir there as part of an on-going probe against him.
Updates on the MACC’s probe against Dr Mahathir have been few and far between since investigation into the latter began in 2022 when PMX assumed the premiership.
As one presumably Madani backer drew “the difference between Lion and Fox” in reference to Dr Mahathir’s oft-perceived cunningness, a pro-opposition commenter came to defend Dr Mahathir by accusing PMX as “being apt in spinning”.

Another commenter could not hold back his anger when he berated PMX that “the best place for him is in prison”.

One commenter fumed at Azam for being disrespectful to Dr Mahathir for not addressing him as “Tun Mahathir” when the latter “politely” referred to the MACC top brass as “Tan Sri Azam Baki”.

Another commenter mooted the idea that Dr Mahathir turn the table on PMX instead by exposing the latter’s hidden wealth as “he tends to avoid declaring his assets”.

At the end of the day, one commenter expects Azam’s tenure “to be extended one more year” in view of Dr Mahathir’s sharp sarcasm. – Sept 12, 2025
