Whether you are a true food hunter or merely looking for something different to try, you need to add Egyptian cuisine onto your list. Fret not, there is one place that you need to make your way to fulfil the destiny – Tut’s Egyptian Eatery.
Since the opening in May 2017, the founder of the company, Mohamed Zein said that Tut’s journey is full of excitement as they test the waters by getting feedback from the customers, including their close family and local friends regarding the dishes.
“We also did market research, and the reason for that is to make sure that the food suits the locals. It’s a new addition to the local varieties of cuisines that we can get in Malaysia. That’s the main reason why we started this venture first in Malaysia,” explained Zein.
There are first few products that he let the customers tried such as the Chili Sauce which is free-flow for top-ups, the national dish of Egypt, Koshari and Molokhia Minced Leaf Stew that is perfect as appetisers.
But, the flagship dish at the moment is grilled chicken. Zein explained, “One of the points that we get is Malaysian are very obsessed about chicken. Here is basically the chicken land.”
“We have quite a variety of sauces that come in different herbs. One of the main sauces that we developed is called the Nutty sauce and peanut is our major component in our cuisine. This sauce covered the chicken, making it juicy, tender and flavourful,” explained Zein, who lived in Malaysia for eight years.
Egyptian are sweet eaters and no doubt their desserts are something that you need to order at Tut’s. The latest addition to the family, the Creamy Konafa is full of crispy pastry fine threads baked to perfection and filled with heavenly cream that will take you on a magical journey to the land of Egypt
This dessert is very popular during the month of fasting in Egypt. The differences of how it is prepared, over there it will be full of syrup which makes it very sweet, but they changed the recipe here to suit the local taste bud.
