“Twice ousted Kedah MB” shouldn’t talk about Anwar, PKR Youth says

PARTI Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir should not be talking about Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s exemplary credentials when the former was kicked out as Kedah menteri besar twice, said PKR Youth vice chief Jestin Raj Savarimuthu.

“Mukhriz himself was axed as MB twice so does that mean his political career is over? And when will Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad retire from politics as he is now 96 years of age? I’m sure the former has his own answers.

“Anyhow, Pejuang is not part of Pakatan Harapan so it’s best for Mukhriz not to talk about our prime ministerial candidate for the next general election,” he said, in a statement.

Yesterday, Mukhriz was reported as saying that he has not ruled out possibility working with Pakatan in the next general election.

However, he urged the Opposition coalition to relook into its prime minister candidate, claiming Anwar’s time has passed.

Anwar, the brain behind reformasi

“I think his time has passed. That’s my feeling and a lot of people have been saying that, in fact within Pakatan itself.

“It’s time for a new group of people to take over (the coalition’s leadership),” Mukhriz said, in an interview with business station BFM.

On that note, Jestin urged Mukhriz not to be hypocritical and stressed that PKR will stand behind Anwar as the latter had been the “anchor” of the reformasi movement and Malaysia still needs a leader of his calibre.

“And his leadership was proven when he hit the ground to help those who were affected by the floods recently, instead of just waving at them from their official vehicles,” Jestin remarked. – Jan 4, 2022.
