Twitter users calling out Azmin for crude remarks against Anwar

PERIKATAN Nasional and Bersatu leader Datuk Seri Azmin Ali made several stinging remarks against Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim leading to netizens blasting the former international trade and industry minister for his criticism.

Azmin played on the old Pakatan Harapan (PH) campaigns of which he was an organiser that said once PH takes power, the price of fuel will go down.

“Has oil (prices) come down or not? When PH won in 2008, then in 2018 at the federal level, we ask him why it didn’t come down, he blamed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Now you have been PM for not one month, not two months but seven months, step down or not? So today I announce today PN wins in Selangor, tomorrow Anwar will step down from Putrajaya. Agree?” he said in a speech.

Azmin also added that this is not a sentiment that he is spreading alone. He alleged that foreign investors are saying it too.

“I didn’t say it, it was the foreign investors who said because you are lying, oil is not coming down, onions are not coming down, fish is not coming down, eggs are not coming down,” he said in Shah Alam on Saturday (June 24) night.

He also dismissed Anwar’s claim that foreign investors would refrain from coming to the country based on the perception spread by PN that the unity government would be toppled in August.

Moreover, Azmin emphasised that this is not a mere perception but an undeniable reality regardless of whether Anwar agrees or not.

However, Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Adam Adli came to Anwar’s defence. He stated on Twitter, “Want to fight the PM, the place is the Parliament, Min (Azmin). What does the state assembly have to do with Putrajaya? It’s not wrong to dream but not when it’s daylight.”

Meanwhile, user @ahmad27208855 said:

“Adam, how many months have you been chairman of PKR’s Youth wing? But have you achieved? What are the directions for young people? Young people are still close to the old Anwar. Even your social media is saddening. If people reply to your tweets, you never even reply. Why is the old one more aggressive than you who are so-called young?” – June 25, 2023
