Two PAS-held states welcome Malaysia Madani-style open house

ALTHOUGH PAS (and even Bersatu) at party level has either skilled down or has been rather modest in throwing open houses as part of this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, at least two PAS-held states have declared their support for the Rumah Terbuka Malaysia Madani proposed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Yesterday (April 22), the Terengganu state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (main pic, middle) has expressed its full support for the Malaysia MADANI Open House Celebration with the Prime Minister (PM) event to be held in the state on May 13.

Despite political differences between the state and federal governments, Ahmad Samsuri who is also the PAS state assemblyman for Ru Rendang said the state government is ready to work together to make the inaugural event a success.

“On behalf of the state government, we welcome with open arms the arrival of the Honourable PM’s entourage and all Cabinet members to Terengganu to celebrate Hari Raya,” he told Berita RTM when met at the MB’s open house yesterday (April 22).

“We shall try to prove that despite there being differences between the political parties that rule the state and that at the Federal level, we never consider that as an obstacle to work together, so please come. God-willing, we shall treat them all as special guests.”

Meanwhile, Kelantan MB Datuk Ahmad Yakob said his side had received a letter from the federal government informing the state administration of the Malaysia MADANI Open House Celebration with the PM event which is slated for May 12.

According to him, the event will be fully managed by the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry.

“All the preparations are handled by the said ministry with the State Government invited to be join hands in the event,” the six-term PAS Pasir Pekan state assemblyman told reporters at his open house in Kampung Alor Pasir, Wakaf Bharu.

“We (the state government) have no obstacles to the PM’s open house for the relationship between the state and the Federal government must continue to exist.”

However, Ahmad refused to comment when asked if the joint-organisation of the PM open house event has anything to do with the upcoming state polls in July/August. – April 23, 2023
