MANY Malaysians dream of owning a landed property, especially in the city centre where land prices are soaring into the stratosphere.
But the same cannot be said for some landed properties which, in hindsight, look more suitable as a horror house for some theme park.
Recently, a video post on X has been gaining attention for showcasing an abandoned two-storey terrace house.
Banners were placed alongside it by realtors, stating that the house, or rather, haunted house, was up for auction.

And judging from its condition, the property looks like it has been waiting for a new owner for quite some time.
The location of the house has not been disclosed, but there is one particularly notable feature. It sits right beside a Chinese graveyard.
Yes, forget the usual selling points such as “walking distance to shops”, “near schools” or “easy access to highways”.
This one appears to offer something a little more permanent.
The video shows a house that looks severely neglected, with its once-liveable appearance seemingly having been replaced by an atmosphere more commonly associated with horror films.
For the brave bargain hunter, however, this could technically be described as a home with excellent privacy.
Of course, there are plenty of practical questions a potential buyer would need to consider before getting carried away by the bargain.
How much would it cost to restore the property? What is the actual condition of the structure? Has the house been vacant for years?
And perhaps most importantly, how comfortable are you with having a cemetery right outside your doorstep?
According to @danialazlann in the comment section, this is fine because his old house was fronting a graveyard.
Prompted by the video post, @SirRdiShah added that during his early working years, he lived in a flat that was surrounded by Muslim and Chinese graves.
For the first two months, it felt creepy but after that, it became normal for him. @shinsemnia further pointed out that a graveyard was better than bad neighbours.
@nemeanaslan said that this was a good package.
Also, @kepalakoteyyy thinks the house can be rented out to the foreign workers.
At the end of the day, a graveyard may not necessarily be the biggest problem when buying a house.
After all, the neighbours are unlikely to borrow your parking spot, complain about your renovation, blast karaoke at 2am or leave rubbish outside your gate.
They are, quite literally, the quietest neighbours you could ask for. The only thing left to figure out is whether the buyer is brave enough to make an offer.
Because if the house is cheap enough, perhaps Malaysians will eventually decide that having neighbours who never complain is not scary at all. It is a bargain.—Sept 7, 2026
