UMNO information chief Shahril Hamdan hit back at Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who accused the former’s party of causing instability.
“UMNO is synonymous with political stability. Other parties can do their best to promote other narratives.
“However, the people have realised despite whatever weaknesses UMNO has, stability and administration are not part of our flaw,” he said, in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, Sanusi said that political stability in the country could only be achieved if UMNO was not allowed to rule again.
“The formula is, no UMNO results to political stability. Any states where UMNO has extra seats, they will call for an election. If you look at Melaka, it’s their partymen who tried to oust their own MB. It’s the same case with Johor.
“But in states where UMNO has lesser seats, they behave differently. Like in Kedah, we don’t have much issues because they hold lesser seats. So, we must ensure Barisan Nasional (BN) don’t win much,” Sinar Harian reported him as saying.
Look into a mirror
Unimpressed with Sanusi’s taunts, Shahril reminded the PAS leader of what happened since 2018, which had caused much instability to the country.
Touching on Pakatan Harapan’s short reign, the UMNO leader said that the infighting among themselves caused for the coalition to collapse within 22 months.
“The ones who kept changing their MB in less than a year wasn’t UMNO. In fact, the one who kept changing its state party leadership was not UMNO either.
“Plus, the one who threatened to ‘press a button’ to collapse the Johor state government was not UMNO either. The one who invited ‘frogs’ into their party during the Melaka state election wasn’t us too,” Shahril mentioned.
He concluded with a criticism against PAS, adding: “The one who weakened the Muafakat Nasional charter by joining another coalition wasn’t UMNO either.” – Feb 13, 2022.
