AN UMNO leader, Puad Zarkashi, indicated that UMNO might consider collaborating with Bersatu if its current stable partnership with PH faces significant challenges.
Despite minor differences, Puad emphasised UMNO’s comfort within the unity government, dismissing Bersatu’s hopes for immediate cooperation.
“Bersatu needs to wait and be patient. Any potential cooperation with them will only be reconsidered if problems arise between UMNO and PH.
“At the moment, UMNO is comfortable working with PH. The party’s role is appreciated, and there is no backstabbing aimed at destroying UMNO. While differences exist, they are not significant enough to sideline the party,” he said to a local news portal.
He responded to Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin’s openness to aligning with UMNO, suggesting Bersatu leaders, including Hamzah and Muhyiddin Yassin, should return to UMNO instead. —Mar 23, 2025
