Unity among Malaysians is the pillar for progress in the country

THE New Year brings hope and new beginnings.

We have survived a turbulent 2020, and have pulled out all the stops in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was that very sense of unity that saw us band together as Malaysians.

This is evident during the movement control order (MCO) period where we helped each other on not only the economic front but the social arena as well.

Our adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) helped our frontliners in executing their duties.

I can safely say that there were no distinctions. Malaysians were united as Malaysians executing a strengthened show of pride and patriotism.

This renewed sense of unity must be maintained. It can serve as a guiding light to take nation building to the next level.

I do not deny that there will be instances where the spirit of unity we have tried so hard to uphold maybe tested.

Please do not have your faith and belief in unity be shaken or weakened. Trust in the good of others and treat one another with equality and respect.

Let me humbly remind you that the nation is still facing an uphill battle in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please remember that we are all children of Malaysia.

We have a civic duty to not only King and country but to our fellow Malaysians.
