Perikatan Nasional has registered official wins in Ayer Hangat (N01), Kuah (N02), Kota Siputeh (N03), Ayer Hitam (N04), Bukit Kayu Hitam (N05), Jitra (N06), Kuala Nerang (N07), Pedu (N08), Bukit Lada (N09), Bukit Pinang (N10), Derga (N11) and Suka Menanti (N12).
The coalition has also obliterated its opponents in Anak Bukit (N15), Kubang Rotan (N16), Pengkalan Kundor (N17), Tokai (N18), Sungai Tiang (N19), Sungai Limau (N20), Guar Chempedak (N21), Belantek (N23), Bukit Selambau (N25), Tanjong Dawai (N26), Pantai Merdeka (N27), Bayu (N30), Kupang (N31), Kuala Ketil (N32), Merbau Pulas (N33), Lunas (N34), Kulim (N35) and Bandar Baharu (N36).
Meanwhile, Kedah Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar was defeated by former Kedah state footballer Radhi Mat Din of PAS in Alor Mengkudu (N14).
While Radhi garnered 18,936 votes, Mahfuz went down tamely with only 8,832 votes.
Kedah football team former captain and PAS candidate Baddrol Bakhtiar also won the Gurun (N22) state seat in Kedah in a straight fight against Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Mohammed Firdaus Johari who is the son of Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
All eyes were no doubt on caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who defended his Jeneri (N24) seat defeating UMNO’s Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim with a whopping 16,050 majority votes.
Meanwhile, the unity coalition of Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) registered 3 official seats wins in Kedah, namely Kota Darul Aman (N13), Bakar Arang (N28), and Sidam (N29). – Aug 12, 2023
