Urimai dep chairman lashes out at “hypocrite DAP” for readying to field a Chinese candidate instead of Tamil Indian

ALTHOUGH the least the Pakatan Harapan ((PH) could do to pacify the Indian community who is mostly unhappy over the ruling coalition’s oversight of their welfare and well-being is to field a Tamil Indian candidate in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election, such expectation has seemingly become a distant dream.

This comes about as DAP which is the incumbent party for the now vacant state constituency is about to announce a Chinese candidate who is an aide to Housing and Local Governments Minister Nga Kor Ming. The announcement has been slated for 8pm today (April 24).

According to the United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) interim council deputy chairman David Marshel, such insensitivity shows that DAP has no respect for the Indian community in the country.

“Even in the selection of candidates, no Indian names cropped up, according to reliable sources,” lamented the former Kampung Jawa Auto City DAP branch chief.

“The selection of the aide to Nga illustrates that DAP is far off from eliminating favouritism, cronyism and nepotism. Yet this is the same party that hypocritically beats its chest to champion multi-racialism, universalism and meritocracy.”

Marshel further hit out at DAP for expecting Indians to support the party by way of “some breadcrumbs thrown at them” while “Indian leaders who dare to speak out are a shown the exit door or marginalised”.

“Indians holding government positions are those who have lost direction in speaking bravely and honestly about the grievances of the Indian community,” asserted the ex-councillor for the Seberang Perai Municipal City Council.

“They are nothing but a bunch of sycophants and appeasers of their party bosses. Shame for a party that calls itself democratic based on the principles of social democracy.” – April 24, 2024
