US climate report: Global warming dangerously close to being out of control

Global temperatures are expected to increase by 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7°F) or more in the next two decades, 10 years earlier than the previous prediction, according to a UN report released on August 9.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that human activities are making extreme weather events more frequent around the world and the changes may not be reversible for hundreds or thousands of years.
