DURING a recent intelligence briefing, President Donald Trump was surprised by claims from the US Intelligence agency that Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader of Iran, is likely homosexual.
Sources familiar with the briefing, which took place in the Oval Office, report that the revelation was met with amusement, with the President laughing at the information.
Aides present reportedly joined in the reaction. One intelligence official was said to have found the matter so humorous that he continued laughing about it for several days.
The information was shared with the New York Post by two members of the intelligence community and a separate source with connections to the White House.
While the US government has reportedly kept this information tightly controlled, rumors regarding Mojtaba Khamenei’s sexuality have circulated within Iran, particularly following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash last May.
Note that Raisi was Ali Khamenei’s presumed favorite to be the next Supreme Leader.
Although the US spy agencies lack photographic proof of Mojtaba Khamenei’s sexual orientation, the sources maintain the intelligence is reliable.
The new claims are supported by past reports concerning Mojtaba Khamenei’s personal life.
A classified 2008 U.S. diplomatic cable, later made public by WikiLeaks, detailed his travels to the United Kingdom for medical treatment related to impotence.
The cable noted that he married around the age of 30, which was considered late, and attributed the delay to this condition.
It stated that he made three extended trips to London for treatment at Wellington and Cromwell Hospitals, which eventually resolved the issue.
According to the same diplomatic file, family pressure to have children quickly led his fourth medical visit to the UK.
After a two-month stay, his wife became pregnant. Mojtaba Khamenei’s wife, Zahra, and their teenage son, Mohammad Bagher, were both reportedly killed in the same airstrike that resulted in the death of his father.
