RESIDENTS of La Guaira, one of the areas hardest hit by Wednesday’s earthquake in Venezuela surveyed the destruction Thursday waiting for official aid to arrive. The powerful earthquakes killed at least 164 people, injured nearly 1,000. Many are trapped beneath collapsed buildings.—June 26, 2026
