Viral claim suggest Sungai Tekali flat is just part of a larger migrant settlement

WHILE MALAYSIANS are stumped by the size of the purportedly illegal Rohingya flat at Sungai Tekali, they are about to get shocked by the latest development.

It appears the issue is much larger than we once thought as the real story begins to unfold. According to netizen @ameydeen_, the huge flat was merely a small part of the Rohingya community.

Take a step back and people will realise that they are actually dealing with an entire illegal settlement.

@ameydeen_ further claimed that this settlement plays host to about 400 Rohingya migrants.

According to the story that’s currently going viral, this hidden settlement is located near the Makau River area, in Kampung Sungai Makau, Sungai Tekali near Dusun Tua, Hulu Langat.

@ameydeen_ claimed that a dormitory has also been completed to accommodate their community.

If what is said is true, this is no longer an ordinary case about one or two illegal houses built by the roadside.

“This is a big problem that really makes us think about how to handle the settlement,” said @ameydeen_, adding that he is also worried about the safety, cleanliness, sewage systems, and where the community is getting their water and electricity supply.

His post on X has since turned into vitriol, prompting many others who suggested violence upon the community.

For example, @irsyadalhaziq24 believed arson was justified upon the community.

Also, @kobabooom claimed they will ask for all sorts of rights after stating there for more than 10 years. “Who rents to these people should be killed,” he said.

“Come on! There will soon to be an election. Faster come out and show like you are doing work,” said @elessar039.

Our online Sherlock Holmes wrote that it has been going on since five years ago.

Then there was @syedfadzree suggesting people check out the area near Kampung Plentong Baru at Johor Bahru too.

A cynical @nizar_hawari lamented that the Malays still hope these authorities will solve the problem, stating that this is merely wishful thinking.

Whatever the truth behind the claims circulating online, the episode has exposed growing public concern over the existence of undocumented settlements and the effectiveness of enforcement on the ground.

However, the calls for violence seen in the comments section are unlikely to solve anything. If anything, they underscore how quickly frustration can boil over when people feel longstanding issues have been ignored. —June 10, 2026
