PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has issued a rallying call to voters to make the most of the upcoming state elections in six states as an opportunity to demonstrate that the people are frustrated with the current situation of the country’s economy.
The Pagoh MP stated that many of these struggles, among them the rising costs of living, the price of essential goods, the declining value of the ringgit, and the country’s economy, have negatively impacted the people.
“The current situation is enough to prove that the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-UMNO unity government has failed to bring the country out of the economic crisis that has affected the lives of the people, especially those in the lower income group,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (June 11).
“All the promises that were made during the 15th General Election (GE15) have not been implemented even though six months have passed since the formation of the unity government.
“The people can no longer tolerate this situation and I would like to invite the people of Negri Sembilan and the five other states that are involved in the upcoming state elections to vote for PN as a sign of the people’s protest against the PH-UMNO unity government for failing to handle the country’s affairs.”
Touching on the recent PN rally in Senawang, Negri Sembilan, the Bersatu president said tens of thousands of people had attended the programme, and that the reception he had received at the rally was similar to that in several other states.
“I believe this uprising will soon be translated into support for PN in the upcoming state elections soon. This is because everyone sees and feels what is going on in the country at the moment,” he added.
At the event, Muhyiddin was accompanied by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, PAS Negri Sembilan PN chairman Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu and PN information chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali. – June 12, 2023
