THE Social Security Organisation (Socso) is doing its best to help small and medium enterprises (SME) and SME Association is in constant communication with them on the Wage Subsidy Programme 2.0 (PSU 2.0).
“The Government, especially Sosco, is trying their best to help but as everyone knows, Sosco works round the clock but due to limited manpower, it’s taking some time.
“I urge all SMEs that if they are facing any wage subsidy claims issues, please go to Socso’s website to double check but remember not keep submitting the same claim multiple times.
“Alternatively, they may come to our association for assistance and we will do our best to assist those who are facing problems,” SME Association president Datuk Michael Kang told FocusM.
On Dec 23, FocusM reported that Socso was having issues disbursing funds under the PSU 2.0 programme due to certain delays, including closure of several of its officers due to cases of COVID-19.
The delays have caused undue financial stress to businesses, causing several of them going vocal against Socso.
However, one company Wan Two3 Sdn Bhd, confirmed that it has received payment for the months of October and November soon after the report.
“Anyway, I hope I’m not one of the lucky ones simply because I’m deemed a ‘protagonist’ for daringly speaking up to the media,” she quipped. “Hopefully, the December payment will be prompt,” its founder and director of public relations outfit Jeanisha Wan was reported saying.
Touching on the matter, Kang said that so far, his association has not received any complains from SMEs on delays of receiving the PSU 2.0 funds.
“So far, none of our members faced any difficulties on the claims. However, for those who face issues, we have set up a site for them to lodge complaints.
“From there, we will take up the matter to Socso and find a solution. We strive to resolve any issues with Socso within seven days,” he added. – Jan 3, 2021.
