Wake up! Najib tells Gov’t, investment authorities

FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has urged the Government to buck up, pointing out that the nation was losing big foreign direct investments (FDI) to neighbouring countries.

“Tesla is going to Indonesia. Amazon and Google are also planning to set up bases there. What is happening?

“We have the International Trade and Industries Ministry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) and InvestKL. What are they doing?” he asked, in a Facebook post.

Reminiscing the past, Najib said that he himself has led multiple trade mission across the world to attract FDI to Malaysia while serving as Prime Minister.

He added his team’s hard work paid off as more than 80 international companies received invitation to set up branches in Malaysia.

“My team managed to create a lot of jobs for our people. We also managed to retain many skilled Malaysian employees here and attract those abroad to come back.

“But since 2018, we don’t really see much FDI. All we hear is our leaders calling locals lazy. All we see is political turmoil and weak policies which is affecting our economy.

“We need real leadership to rejuvenate the nation and our economy,” the Pekan MP added. – Dec 15, 2020.
