BARISAN Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) decision to use BN’s iconic “dacing” logo for the state polls in the east coast would make it much easier for Perikatan Nasional (PN) to win the state elections in Kelantan and Terengganu, said Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
“We welcome this strategy. I really hope they use the ‘dacing’ logo, as it’s been proven that if you use that logo in the east coast and Malay heartlands, we will make a clean sweep of all the seats,” he told reporters outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters earlier today (May 12).
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal was responding to reports of BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, commonly known as Tok Mat, saying yesterday that the party is thinking of allowing its unity government partners to use the BN logo in the upcoming state polls.
On Apr 27, Ketereh Amanah head Che Ibrahim Mohamed had previously proposed that Pakatan Harapan (PH) contest under the BN banner in Kelantan and Terengganu as the PH symbol did not receive widespread support in the two states.
In related news, the Machang MP also dismissed UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s prediction that PN will eventually break up, saying that the BN chairman was merely “scared” of the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin-led coalition.
He went on to claim he found out that UMNO grassroots were unhappy with Zahid but were afraid to challenge the party president.
“They will display their anger by sabotaging BN and PH in the state elections. They will vote for PN, trust me, because they can’t accept that BN and PH are working together,” he said.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal further took a pot shot at Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Johari Abdul, when asked if PN was planning to table a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said PN had never discussed tabling a motion of no-confidence in Dewan Rakyat, seeing as to how Johari was “biased” as he comes from PKR.
Furthermore, he pointed out that other motions he had submitted to Johari previously had been rejected. – May 12, 2023
