Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin is the new chairman of Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) effective July 1, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement today.
This confirms FocusM’s report early today that the Petronas man had resigned and was in the running to helm the ailing national flag carrier.
Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz will be replacing Wan Zulkiflee as Petronas president and CEO, also effective July 1.
“I would like to thank Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee for his 37 years with Petronas,” Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said in a statement.
“I believe under his leadership, MAB will be better restructured and will continue to grow as a competitive and well-organised national flag carrier,” he said.
Muhyiddin also welcomed Tengku Muhammad Taufik, saying the latter has the “skills and experience” to work with current Petronas chairman Ahmad Nizam Salleh. – June 6, 2020
