FOREIGN Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah confirmed that the nine Malaysians stranded in Ukraine had been safely evacuated to Korczowa-Krakovets, the border between Ukraine and Poland.
“The convoy, led by Fadhilah Daud, included nine Malaysians, two of the dependents and a Singaporean from Kyiv.
“The convoy was later attended to by two officers from the Malaysian high commission in Poland. They are now on their way to Warsaw and are expected to return to Kuala Lumpur soon,” he said, in a series of tweets earlier today.
Yesterday, South China Morning Post (SCMP) alleged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Saifuddin of blundering in their response to the Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The report added that due to issues from Putrajaya, Fadhilah had to rise to the occasion and proceeded with the evacuation plan of Malaysians stuck in the country.
Citing various Government sources, it was said that the problem was caused by Ismail Sabri and Saifuddin’s dismissive attitude towards Western intelligence in January on the imminent Russian invasion.
“These officials had described the intelligence as a ‘Western narrative’, leading the evacuation mission to become a “cluster f**k”, one source mention.
“The situation is partly the consequence of having a minister who is so desperate to not fall for Western narrative, he starts believing the nonsense peddled by the other side,” another source added.
Netizens praise Fadhilah, slam Gov’t
On that note, several netizens praised Fadhilah for stepping up during a crisis, while taking pot shots at the Government at the same time.
“Bagi kredit yg sepatutnya kpd cik fadhilah, kecekapan beliau…patut di hargai dgn sebaiknya,” said user Ezlife.
(All credit goes to Fadhilah. Her competency must be appreciated)

(What a shame to the Government! Luckily, we had an incredible envoy there)
(You guys only left when the traffic congestion had started. It means the minister and PM gave last minute directive. This is what happens when you distrust the West too much. People were already prepared ahead of the war)- Feb 27, 2022.
