“We are allergic to the colour”: PAS leader tells PN to lose their shade of blue or go ‘green’

PAS election chief Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor has suggested that the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition consider adopting PAS’ green-and-white moon flag to contest the polls.

Sanusi, who is also Kedah menteri besar, reportedly told party delegates at the PAS Youth Muktamar in Kedah last night (Sept 1) that PN should change its shade of blue as PAS members and supporters are “allergic” to the colour.

This is because the colour is similar to Barisan Nasional’s (BN) navy blue and is “off-putting” to some, he added.

“It should be revised as our supporters are allergic to a blue similar to BN’s. Or else, we stick to the PAS logo,” Sanusi was quoted as saying by news portal FMT.

A similar view had been expressed by a Terengganu PAS leader who represented the state PN chapter at the PN convention in Serdang, Selangor last weekend.

Terengganu exco member Ariffin Deraman in his speech at the convention said that Terengganu PAS will not use PN’s new logo in the 15th general election (GE15) but instead will stick with PAS’.

According to the leader, he believed that PAS’ moon logo is more widely accepted by voters on the east coast.

In response to this, Muhyiddin said that it is best if PN component parties use the same logo during GE15 as was the case in the Johor, Sabah and Melaka state elections.

He noted that it was improbable that people would not recognise the PN logo as it was the only one with words while others use symbols, adding that they had introduced their own logo two weeks before the Sabah state election and still won.

Muhyiddin also said PN would be using its existing logo for GE15 as agreed on by the coalition’s leadership, although they will consider using a new logo after GE15. – Sept 2, 2022
