Welfare Dept defends Rina Harun’s water jet stunt, netizens hit back

THE Social Welfare Department (JKM) defended Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun from naysayers in regards to a video showing the latter doing cleaning work at a school.

“Rina was only cleaning the floor at SK Salak Tinggi relief centre but she also ‘got her hands dirty’ by arranging logistics there.

“As we were managing the operation, Rina was requested to assist us in cleaning bird and gecko droppings there.

“Since the water jet was already there, the minister obliged and did the work with an open heart,” it said, in a statement.

Yesterday, Rina received flak from on social media over a video showing her using a water jet to clean up a seemingly an already cleansed floor.

This was not the first time she was criticised following the massive floods. Previously, she was seen at a relief area wearing high-heels. Rina also courted controversy for holding a grand event in a hotel to launch a flood relief programme.

On related matter, netizens were unimpressed with JKM’s defence of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leader.

(It’s not JKM’s job to issue a statement on this but the minister’s office. Unfortunately, JKM issued the statement and now, they are considered part of the problem too)

User Ben echoed Syahredzan’s views adding:

(I don’t believe it was JKM’s doing. No way they would be involved in such brainless things)

Netizen Suria retorted: “Adakah tugas JKM membuang taik cicak?” (Is removing gecko’s dropping now part of JKM’s job scope) – Dec 27, 2021
