BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:
Berjaya Research
The FBM KLCI (+0.3%) concluded the month on an upbeat manner but still recorded -2.2% month-on-month (mom) decline for the month of October 2026.
Trading volume improved slightly to 3.2 billion shares while market breadth remains unfavourable, suggesting that the recovery was largely concentrated in selected blue-chip stocks.
Looking ahead, the FBM KLCI is expected to remain range-bound with a cautious bias as investors turn their attention towards the US mid-term elections scheduled for the middle of next week.
The election outcome could have implications for US fiscal and trade policies, potentially influencing global risk appetite and capital flows into emerging markets.
Sentiment across the broader market remains cautious with investors likely to favour defensive and fundamentally sound companies amid heightened external uncertainties.
Nevertheless, selective trading opportunities may emerge among oversold stocks with resilient earnings prospects.
Under the prevailing circumstances, investors could adopt a wait-and-see approach with any near-term recovery likely to remain tentative amid lingering external uncertainties.
The immediate resistances are located at 1,620-1,630 points. Meanwhile the immediate supports are pegged at 1,592 points, followed by 1,580 points.
Malacca Securities Research
The FBM KLCI may trade cautiously amid weaker global technology sentiment although fresh corporate developments could provide stock-specific opportunities.
CelcomDigi Bhd may attract interest after securing MCMC’s (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) spectrum assignments for the 2,600MHz and 900MHz bands on Oct 30.
This is poised to strengthen the group’s network capacity and coverage albeit with additional spectrum costs, including RM42 mil in annual fees for the 2,600MHz band.
Ta Ann Holdings Bhd may attract interest following its reported strong 3Q FY2026 production performance with crude palm oil (CPO) output rising 23% year-on-year (yoy) to 97,610 tonnes and fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production increasing 30% to 236,443 tonnes, hence improving production volume visibility for its plantation operations.
The local bourse has extended its recovery above the 1,600 psychological threshold by testing the near-term EMA (exponential moving average).
Backed by an expanding positive MACD histogram and the RSI advancing towards 50, overhead resistance sits at 1,631-1,646 with support established at 1,586-1,601. – Nov 2, 2026
