BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:
Berjaya Research
The FBM KLCI snapped a four-day rebound as profit taking seeps into the picture with the key index lingered in the negative territory throughout the trading session yesterday.
Trading volume eased to 2.8 billion shares while market breadth turned slightly negative as profit taking across the lower liners were fairly evident.
Looking ahead, we expect the FBM KLCI to remain range-bound with a cautious bias tone as investors reassess the sustainability of the recent rebound amid lingering external uncertainties and a lack of fresh domestic catalysts.
On the external front, investors will be closely monitoring the upcoming US new home sales and consumer confidence data for further clues on the resilience of the US economy and the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy trajectory.
While intermittent bargain hunting could provide some downside support, we view the 1,600 level as a key focal point.
For the broader market, we expect trading sentiment to remain indifferent amid lingering external uncertainties and intermittent profit-taking activities.
Nevertheless, the rebound on Nasdaq overnight could potentially uplift the sentiment within Bursa Malaysia Technology sector today.
Should the aforementioned level remain defended, a recovery could pave way towards the immediate resistances are located at 1,620-1,630 points. Meanwhile the immediate supports are pegged at 1,592 points, followed by 1,580 points.
Malacca Securities Research
Following Wall Street’s rebound and improved AI (artificial intelligence) sentiment after Anthropic’s IPO (initial public offering) filing, we expect the FBM KLCI to recover today with technology counters attracting interest.
We continue to like Infomina Bhd, supported by (i) its RM614.2 mil order book following Malaysian and Japanese contract wins; (ii) regional growth opportunities through its Broadcom mainframe software distribution and support appointment across 12 Asia-Pacific markets; and (iii) stronger 1Q FY2027 results.
We also favour selected glove counters with its recent price momentum. Lastly, power infrastructure engineering solutions provider SKA Capital Bhd (M+ target price: 66 sen) closes its IPO applications at 5pm today (Oct 27).
The FBM KLCI remains below key moving averages. Momentum indicators suggest that selling pressure may be easing with the MACD having expanded towards its positive territory while the RSI traded above the 30 level.
Key resistance lies at 1,619-1,624 while near-term support is expected around 1,584-1,589. – Oct 27, 2026
