AT around 20 to 30, many young adults are just beginning to find their footing in life. Some are fresh graduates embarking on their first careers.
Others are saving for a home, pursuing higher education or planning for marriage. But a recent viral video on X paints a different reality.
In the clip, a young woman is seen sitting along a public walkway with a baby in her arms, selling small items to earn a living.
When approached by a concerned passer-by, she is asked about her age. Her answer is just 23.
What comes next is even more heartbreaking. She reveals that she already has three children.
How does someone so young find herself carrying such immense responsibility? At an age when many are still trying to establish their own lives, she is already struggling to provide for three young children.

Netizens who watched the video were equally touched by it and many offered their two cents in the comment section.
“Where is the husband?” asked @bckupacc99, adding that their family planning was poor.
Visibly moved by her situation, a good Samaritan buys everything she has for sale before gently encouraging her to take her baby home.
Yet beyond the touching encounter lies a far more important conversation that deserves our attention. To be fair, the short social media clip tells only a fraction of the story.
“Don’t judge too soon. We don’t know if her husband is working or not,” said @arbeeZONE, pointing out that perhaps the wife decided to help in such a manner.
“Why blame straight away? Maybe the husband is struggling too and we don’t know,” continued @aminrizal04.
“Maybe Firdaus Wong and Zamri kalimuthu can help. Pls tag them,” said a sarcastic @KevinArshavin13.
Also, @eyesofaini was sceptical about her plight.
The young mother in the viral video may have become the face of this issue for a day, but there are undoubtedly many others whose struggles remain unseen.
Take it from @MohammadAiman01 who said he feared marriage as he could inherit his poverty to his child.
Then there was a philosophical @neesely pointing out that when people live a life different from us, we tend to view their life as wrong.
At just 23, this young mother has become the face of a struggle shared by many whose stories never make it onto social media.
Her plight should not merely leave viewers feeling sorry for her. Instead, it should remind others that compassion is most meaningful when it is matched by understanding.
