Who’s behind ‘testing the pond’ hoax of Bossku all-set for house arrest, RM50m fine target reached?

IT was a rather comedial yesterday (Nov 4) with UMNO loyalists rejoicing over disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak earning his freedom given the potential settlement of his RM50 mil fine while detractors were seemingly stunned that Bossku gets to enjoy his jail sentence in his Jalan Langgak Duta private bungalow.

But those sentiments of joy and furore were short-lived with lead defence counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah swiftly dismissing speculation of any representative of the incarcerated Bossku coming forward to settle his dues as he has not received any instruction on any settlement.

This was further confirmed by UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki who admitted that the party’s Najib’s Solidarity Fund is still insufficient, short of revealing the latest collection figure.

As it is, the Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mohktar had on Sunday (Nov 1) confirmed that Bossku has yet to settle his fine, hence he shall remain in prison indefinitely.

Recall that following a conditional pardon granted on Sept 18, Bossku is eligible to serve the remainder of his sentence for his SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028

As a matter of fact, the testing the pond hoax followed by an abrupt reverse gear has shone the spotlight on DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook with presumably Bossku fanbase/pro-opposition fraction teasing when is the Seremban MP stepping down from his Transport Minister portfolio.

“Dear YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook. Have you prepared your resignation letter? PS: Don’t try to make a U-turn, ya,” mocked Threader Sujita Soorian (@sujieta) with Inspirasi Channelz (@inspirasichannelz) echoing that “”Anthony Loke can now pack up his Transport Ministry’s desk”.

“Date of Anthony Loke’s resignation takes effect on the day DS Najib Razak is released to serve his remaining sentence under house arrest (once Najib has settled his RM50 mil fine),” reminded the Malay language news portal.

Major RM50m contributors must be exposed

This was when those who hold on to the belief that Bossku’s conviction of public fund embezzlement was justified surfaced in droves to defend Loke.

“If an MP who at least did something has to be reminded to step down while someone who sakau berjuta-juta (plundered millions) doesn’t even have to worry about walking free, the whole thing is absurd 🤣,” countered one commenter.

“I don’t understand why people want to put pressure on innocent people but actually praise the real culprit,” wondered another with one netizen insinuating at how plunderers of the nation’s wealth can be allowed to walk free.

In fact, how the chain of events panned out yesterday insofar as Bossku’s fate is concerned has left dental surgeon Kamsiah Haider pointing out that should the RM50 mil fine target is met one fine day, “the Malaysian public deserves answers, not just news that someone is turning up with the money!”

“The question is where did the RM50 mil come from and who is actually paying for it? Is it Najib’s personal wealth, UMNO’s fundraising, wealthy benefactors or private donors?” asserted the owner of Klinik Pakar Pergigian Dr. Kam in Facebook post.

“Given the history of the SRC and 1MDB cases, Malaysians deserve transparency. If third parties are financing the payment, who are they, and where did the money originate? RM50 mil is no small change that someone can simply pull out of a handbag.”

Elsewhere, finfluencer dccapital.my (@dccapital.my) who followed the UMNO’s ‘donor trail’ aptly revealed on Oct 17 that Bossku was still be far away from hitting the RM50 mil target for his home arrest dream to be realised.

“Last number they gave: RM9.25 mil on 27 Sept. Since then? Quiet with no update for 20 days (as of Oct 17),” he observed.

And the clock is running. 676 days left as of today (Oct 17) and every unpaid week is a week the money doesn’t buy back.

“Plus the 1MDB sentence (still under appeal) kicks in after that. So best case, about 22 months at home.
