Who’s to blame for the MUDA exodus?

REPORTS are that MUDA has lost four key grassroots leaders this week, and the news has rocked some social media platforms with users saying the party’s leadership is to blame for the current state of affairs of the ‘youth’ party.

MUDA is seeing a mass departure with four key grassroots leaders leaving this week, citing a lack of transparency, leadership issues, and others.

Among those who resigned are the Kapar MUDA treasurer Vipraharan Balan, Pandan MUDA Abang Aliefiesyahreen, Kedah MUDA deputy chairman Amer Abdullah and Kapar MUDA deputy chief Thinesh Raj Parantaman.

A news portal reported that those who quit the party this week said they left because the party refused to disclose the audit report of the funds raised for the flood relief efforts in December 2021, among other leadership issues.

While some social media users are saying there are internal issues within the party since its leader Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman resigned, netizens are saying those leaving are not okay for the party to join the opposition alliance Perikatan Nasional (PN).

The party however, has not made any statement on joining the alliance, but rumours are persistent that this is the direction MUDA is taking and that it is causing friction among its members.

User on the X platform @HEROSUPER188 is saying MUDA should join PN if they want to survive and they can still get one seat just like ‘Gelakan’ which is a deformation of the Party Gerakan’s name.

Another user @muhyi_d_din is of the view everything will be fine with MUDA if the former MUDA president was not cozy with former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Meanwhile, @IsmadiZamsuri said members should blame Syed Saddiq if the party is shut because he made the wrong choices. – Feb 17, 2024
