PRESSURE is mounting on Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to address growing internal rifts following calls from a Supreme Council member for him to clarify allegations involving his son-in-law, fugitive businessman Adlan Berhan.
Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah urged Muhyiddin to clear the air after images emerged showing Adlan allegedly living lavishly abroad.
“If the father-in-law remains silent on the matter, how are we supposed to respond?” he said to a local news portal, adding that the issue has been raised in parliament several times without explanation.
Adlan, wanted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over a foreign worker biometric data project, is believed to be overseas. Police have confirmed an arrest warrant has been issued for him.
Saifuddin said he spoke up after internal party members criticised Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin for not defending Muhyiddin. “So I thought, what the heck! Hence my posting,” he said on his post on the matter on social media.
Meanwhile, sacked Bersatu member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan accused secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali of issuing a new party circular without supreme council approval.
Calling it a desperate move, he said, “When one lacks influence and support, all that remains is the use of authority.”
The Oct 25 circular bars members from associating with individuals punished by the Disciplinary Board. Wan Saiful questioned why the same rule was not applied to Muhyiddin himself, who had previously met with expelled party founders Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir. —Oct 26, 2025
