A HOMEMAKER’S discovery of her spouse’s predilection for online pornography has exposed some uncomfortable truths.
In a lengthy anonymous post shared on @meinmokthar’s page on X (formerly Twitter), the wife started by saying she led a happy existence taking care of her small family.

She stated that everything was as it should be. With her taking good care of spouse and child while making every effort to satisfy the husband’s needs and desires. This extended to taking care of her appearance and regular exercise to stay slim and fit. There were no complaints from her other half regarding conjugal relations, according to her.
However, her world came crashing down upon the discovery of pornographic material on her husband’s phone.
In her lengthy anonymous post, the wife admitted that there were many confrontations leading to her walking out on her family for a brief period. This appeared to teach her husband a lesson who seemed to genuinely regret his actions and vowed to turn over a new leaf.
However, she discovered more of the same a year later. This time she exacted a painful revenge. After sex with her husband, she enraged him by claiming she was fantasising about other men during their intercourse.
The post which has been viewed 1.4 million times at the time of writing elicited plenty of comments. This is a small sample of what netizens are saying.
More than one netizen called out the obvious societal double standards whereby men get away with regular consumption of porn but ladies are completely forbidden.
Many netizens praised the wife for trying to solve the issue by having open discussions with her spouse. But they also noted that greater effort is required to overcome porn addiction.
There were many who asked the wife to adopt a long-term strategy in fighting the husband’s addiction while stating that it is not easy for a person with such a problem to just go cold turkey.
One netizen suggested following the adage ‘when you can’t beat them, join them’ by filming their own porn material.
Quite shockingly, more than a few netizens seem to feel that the wife was over-reacting which underlines the pervasiveness of porn consumption among Malaysians.
Some netizens were hooked by the anonymous poster’s storyline and were intrigued at what happened next as the wife had left the ending on a cliff hanger or of sorts.
Whilst the post may be salacious in nature, it points to a deep-rooted problem that is manifesting itself in a variety of ways.
Firstly, the easy accessibility of porn material in today’s digital age has opened up a veritable Pandora’s Box. As the case above highlights, it is disrupting the marital harmony and bliss of many a couple.
Secondly, many of the comments reflect society’s attitudes that are just plain wrong. Aside from being illegal, porn is absolutely prohibited by all religions. There is no grey area here. It is wrong for both men and women to consume this filth.
Thirdly, Malaysians are seemingly obsessed with smut. In smear campaigns directed at politicians and celebrities, sex scandals seem to be the preferred modus operandi.
The recent publicity and fanfare surrounding the case of ‘Hot Daddy’ case highlights this obsession with the gigolo and porn producer being feted as a celebrity by an adoring public.
This breakdown in moral standards must be discussed and addressed. The authorities will need to find tangible solutions to porn consumption among Malaysians instead of conveniently sweeping it under the carpet or laying the blame at the door of the LGBTQ+ community and ‘liberals’. – March 7, 2024
