Wilstech works with Selangor state gov’t to digitalise 200 SMEs

IN attempts to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) digitalise their businesses, Malaysia-based business digitalisation company Wilstech is collaborating with Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), offering grants that amount to RM5 mil (provided by SIDEC).

Through the Selangor SME Digitalisation Matching Grant, SMEs will be able to gain access to a 50% (or a maximum of RM5,000) grant on the fees to digitalise their businesses across a variety of aspects.

The programme will allow Wilstech to help about 200 local SMEs kick-start their digital transformation journey.

“We truly understand the plight that SMEs have faced over the past two years because we too are an SME. We know the challenges and limitations, and are equally familiar with the opportunities and possibilities. This is why Wilstech would like to give local SMEs an upper hand in the competitive and volatile market of today,” commented Wilstech CEO Wilson Low.

“Through this collaboration with SIDEC, we are able to offer our expertise in business digitalisation to a vast group of deserving SMEs.

“Whether it is e-commerce functionality, human resources, accounting and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, infrastructure and hardware services or software and mobile app development, we are able to cater to the whole spectrum of digitalisation needs for SMEs who are looking to evolve and adapt to the next normal,” Wilson added.

To be eligible for the grant, the SMEs will have to fulfil the following criteria:

  • Registered under the relevant laws in Malaysia
  • At least 51% owned by Malaysians
  • Business or operation address registered in Selangor
  • In operation for at least one year
  • A minimum annual sales turnover between RM300,000 and RM3 mil

The grant is also limited to one application per company but they may apply for services in up to three of the above-mentioned categories.

A SIDEC spokesperson mentioned that the overall goal of the grant is to address the struggles and limitations that the SMEs were subjected to that was caused by the pandemic for the past couple of years.

Applications for the grant is now open until Oct 31, 2021.

To apply for the grant, SMEs can reach out to Wilstech to discuss digitalisation plans, obtain a proforma invoice on the plan and submit their application through the SIDEC website. From there, successful applicants will be notified via email within 21 working days. – Sept 26, 2021
