PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he wants to be more strict and will not tolerate any individual who reaps the country’s revenue as this will ensure more benefits will be given to the people.
Anwar insisted that if the looting of the country’s produce can be stopped, the prices of goods that have skyrocketed can also be lowered.
“This year as well, I am looking into raising the salaries of civil servants because it has not been raised for 10 to 12 years. Where do you want to get the money to do this?
“So I ask my friends to understand why there are cases where I don’t want to tolerate robbers from (taking) the country’s revenue,” he said.
However, his statement that prices of goods in Malaysia will only go down if corruption is stopped did not go down well with a majority of users on the X platform.
In short, they want him to fix the dwindling Ringgit and bring down the prices of goods as they say this is affecting people in general.
Meanwhile, there is an obvious ignorance among the general public on the reasons why the prices of goods are skyrocketing in the country while the government is promising it will control the prices.
Netizen @duittonium said that in the past it was about Najib ‘turun’ everything (prices) would go down. But with Anwar now in power, all the prices are up.
As for user @izsmin, he pointed out that the government is missing something important and that is creating awareness among the public that it is doing the right thing. For that, it needs a good communications team to drive the message forward.
Others are asking why it is that during former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s time, the prices of goods were not as bad as today.
In a twist, some asked Anwar to say sorry to Najib for the campaigns Pakatan Harapan led against the imprisoned leader or that every time Anwar speaks, it impacts the economy. Action speaks louder than words, they said. – Feb 17, 2024
