XL Holdings-City-Link in tie-up to expand chilled & frozen goods delivery services

XL Holdings Bhd has announced a landmark partnership between its 51%-owned subsidiary XTRA Delivery Sdn Bhd and City-Link Express (M) Sdn Bhd, a reputable courier service provider with a solid foothold across Malaysia.

XTRA is engaged in providing services for delivering chilled and frozen goods and parcels to destinations across Malaysia.

In a move set to re-shape the landscape of chilled and frozen goods delivery, XTRA will leverage City-Link Express’ extensive facilities to swiftly and efficiently reach customers across Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak.

“In our quest to continually exceed customer expectations, our partnership with City-Link Express represents a leap forward,” commented XTRA CEO Glenn Teh Hong Seng. “By harnessing our combined strengths, we are fostering a climate of growth and innovation that ultimately benefits our customers and delivers value to our shareholders.”

Under the collaborative agreement, City-Link Express will provide its premises as drop-off points and courier centres for XTRA’s chilled and frozen goods. This move facilitates XTRA’s mission of superior customer service and generates an additional revenue stream for City-Link Express.

XTRA customers can easily schedule XTRA’s delivery services either through XTRA’s website or by scanning a QR code available at City-Link Express’ premises. This new approach simplifies the process, offering customers a seamless, hassle-free experience.

The new “Pick Up, Drop Off” (PUDO) services introduced by XTRA at these premises allow customers to complete their orders and drop off their parcels at their convenience. This flexibility augments the customer experience, enhancing satisfaction and loyalty.

“By leveraging City-Link Express’ wide-ranging network, we are poised to expedite our chilled and frozen goods deliveries and significantly enhance service quality,” projected Teh.

“The increase in our drop-off points and courier centres broadens our reach, providing our customers with a greater range of convenient options. We firmly believe this partnership will reinforce our position as a reliable and adaptive courier service provider.”

Under the agreement, XTRA will provide all necessary equipment for these services, including the proprietary XTRABox for chilled and frozen goods or parcels. Meanwhile, City-Link Express will allocate space within each premise for XTRA to operate.

Customers can walk into City-Link Express to purchase XTRABox for any delivery across the country or surf www.xtradelivery.asia to purchase XTRA’s service where the company can provide door pick up or drop off at any City-Link Express centre.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to growth, innovation, and customer satisfaction. It’s a win-win for both companies, and we are thrilled to embark on this journey with City-Link Express,” added Teh.

At the close of today’s trading, XL Holdings was down 0.5 sen or 0.65% to 76.5 sen with 6.51 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM183 mil. – May 18, 2023
