TAKING its experience of providing free 40GB of data to schoolchildren in government schools and free phones to B40 students, YTL Communications’ YES is upping the ante on its ‘YES Kasi Up B40´ initiative by making 40GB worth of data accessible to the B40 free-of-charge.
Under the initiative, any registered member of the B40 community will get their free 40GB data to be claimed via www.yea.my/kasiupB40 or the MyYes app.
To apply, B40s need only provide their contact details on the website for the YES SIM to be delivered directly to their homes. Once activated via the MyYes app, the 40GB of free data is valid for 60 days.
“It’s been one year since we began our journey of giving free data to those who most need it, ensuring that every school-going child in Malaysia can continue to learn, despite being in lockdown,” said YTL Communications managing director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong.
“Now, we are extending this free data initiative to all the B40 rakyat. It is the only way to ensure Malaysia reaches its full potential. This is the democratisation of data, which is the essence of what YES Kasi Up is all about,” he continued.
Yeoh also that that it is important that everyone continues to play their part to close the digital divide, since data accessibility is the game changer.
“YES Kasi Up is all about finding new and innovative ways to enable Malaysians, especially the underserved, by equipping them with today’s most important commodity — data. We can only be an inclusive nation if we make data accessible and affordable to all, and that is what YES aims to do,” he concluded. – March 26, 2021
