DEMOCRATIC Action Party (DAP) Member of Parliament Young Syefura Othman, has condemned recent viral videos that labeled the party as “Harbi Kafir,” a term that implies hostility towards Islam.
In a joint statement with MPs Syahredzan Johan and Sheikh Omar Ali along with other DAP members, Young Syefura said they visited the Dang Wangi Police Headquarters to file a formal report regarding the videos.
“These videos are outrageous and deeply irresponsible,” Young Syefura said. “They propagate dangerous and incendiary rhetoric that could threaten national security and disturb communal harmony.”
She explained that the term “Kafir Harbi” is used to describe infidels who are hostile to Islam, and the implication that DAP members fall into this category is both alarming and unacceptable.
“Such actions are not only divisive but could incite violence and unrest. We strongly condemn this act and urge the authorities to take strict action against those responsible.”
Young Syefura and her colleagues hope the police investigation will serve as a deterrent to similar threats in the future and reaffirm their commitment to maintaining peace and unity in Malaysia. – Aug 11, 2024
