FANCY catching a glimpse of China’s renowned communist leader Mao Zedong’s portrait on your food utensils right here in the Malaysian shores? Just head to Bandar Botanik, Klang then.
Well, a YouTuber has exposed the existence of a communist-themed restaurant in Klang which he himself first doubted until he visited and dined at the restaurant himself to confirm the claim.
In a clip, @luiswong90 who has 20.2k subscribers revealed that he was given the tip-off via e-mail by a subscriber of a Mainland Chinese-owned restaurant in Klang which the latter suspected of promoting communism and had even lodged a report to the authorities.
“So, I made a trip to the restaurant with a friend one recent weekend to verify with my own eyes … from the outside, it seems to be a typical Chinese restaurant but inside, many of the restaurant’s utensils (plates, bowls and teapots) contained images of communism propaganda, including the slogan,” the YouTuber pointed out.
“Maybe, many Malaysians are unaware that promoting communism constitutes a grave offence under the law.”
This was when @luiswong90 recalled that prior to this, there was a restaurant (in Bukit Mertajam, Penang) with a similar case but the authorities had since taken action against the eatery’s owner and his Chinese national wife.

“In my opinion, such blatant act should not be allowed for it can be only communism propaganda on the restaurant’s food utensils initially but sooner or later, it can spread to the wall, advertisement or television,” opined the YouTuber who according to his profile is also apt in film-making.
“Sadly, even though my YouTube subscriber has lodged report to the authorities, no action has been taken thus far;” he lamented.
“Therefore, I seek the cooperation of everyone to do something for the sake of our country. If you know of any government departments and politicians, please report this matter to them; otherwise, please share this video so that more people will become aware of this issue.”

@luiswong90’s wish of his making his exposé widely known could probably have come true as a TikTok version of his video has most recently made its rounds in the Facebook page of political activist with a pro-opposition slant Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah who is better known as Ratu Naga.
The social media influencer is now rallying Klang folks to file a police report on the matter.
