Zahid: “Confidence vote in Parliament marks the start of a stable govt”

DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed his gratitude that the legitimacy of the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is now clear after the vote of confidence in Parliament yesterday (Dec 19).

The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman said the number of MPs had given clear support to the unity government when the vote of confidence motion was passed with more parliamentarians in favour.

“Today’s [vote of] confidence and legitimacy is a sign for all parties including the Government and Opposition to move forward and focus on developing the country,” the UMNO president said in a Facebook post last night.

“People these days yearn for a Government that works and functions for the wellbeing and prosperity of the country. Therefore, economic and cost of living issues will be the main focus in the formation of this unity government.”

Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, added that the various challenges in the country’s economic and financial affairs in the coming year require the support of all parties in ensuring the continuity of people’s lives.

“The planning and implementation of sustainable policies and policies will result in a more developed and prosperous country,” the Bagan Datuk MP said.

“Thus, political stability is very important so that Malaysians can work together as much as possible with the Unity Government to build the country in a better direction,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zahid further expressed his gratitude to former Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Azhar Harun for his services rendered.

“Congratulations and good luck to new Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul and his deputies. Use this platform to make the agenda of strengthening parliamentary institutions a success.” – Dec 20, 2022
